What is Vedic Meditation?

Vedic Meditation is a simple, effortless and ancient technique that stems from the 5000-year-old body of wisdom known as the Veda, which means ‘knowledge’ in Sanskrit. All of Indian philosophy, yoga, and meditation comes from this body of knowledge, which encourages us to align our bodies and daily lives with the rhythms of Nature.

A personal mantra or sound is given at your first initiation session. This mantra silently allows the mind to settle down to quieter and more subtle states. This settling of the mind triggers profound levels of rest in the body allowing stress to unwind and the body to heal.

Practicing Vedic Meditation is easy. There's no concentrating, focusing or trying to stop thoughts. No apps or special seats needed! Vedic Meditation is designed for everyday people who need a technique to reboot, tap in, regulate stress and live a more fulfilled life.

The Technique

Vedic meditation is a simple and effortless daily practice that anyone can learn. We sit comfortably, with our eyes closed, twice a day for 20 minutes and gently lead the mind and body to a more de-stressed state. We do this by using a personal mantra or sound, which calms the mind, rests the body and dissolves any built up stress and fatigue. No focus or concentration is required and a daily practice will bring a myriad of benefits to all aspects of life.

Who is it for?

Anyone who learns properly can do it. The technique is specifically designed for “householders” — people living full, busy lives, not monastic ones.

This is an important distinction: many meditation practices on offer today were designed for reclusives, and simply aren’t suited to the life most of us are living.

People from all walks of life and all ages practise Vedic Meditation — busy parents, students, professionals, and elite athletes among them — and experience its benefits.

Testimonials

Sophie, thank you for introducing me to Vedic Meditation. I had been thinking about meditation for years but never really knew where or how to start. You made the whole process feel so accessible and easy to understand, sharing your knowledge and insights in a way that really connected with me. I loved learning from you and your calm, warm and genuine approach made the experience feel very special. I’m so grateful to have started my meditation journey with you and to now have a practice that I can bring into my everyday life.

Natasha

Sophie, thank you so much for taking me through the Vedic meditation process. It came at just the right time for me and you were just the right person to guide me. Your clear love for the practice and your willingness to share your own experience and your knowledge was compelling and then you created a calm and safe space to learn with gentle encouragement.

I love the wee check-ins and insights you offer. And while it’s far from perfect each time for me, my meditation is something I look forward to daily am endeavouring to prioritise. Thank you!

Jo

This really has been very special Sophie. Thank you for passing on your Vedic knowledge in such a wonderfully warm and caring environment.   I loved it and cannot recommend you more highly.

Amanda

Never in a million years was I expecting to come away from this morning with such a precious gift and tool for life.  Sophie had a wonderful presence, and fantastic level of knowledge but her greatest strength is her authenticity.

Many people try to 'own' this space, but their personality and behaviour don't always align or marry well with what they preach. In Sophie’s case, everything about her speaks to what she is championing.
